About

Hope Fellowship Church

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)

We are a church that desires to worship and celebrate God in spirit and in truth. We long to see people grow and deepen their relationships with God and with each other, and to journey as a community of faith together.

Hope Fellowship Church began in 1994, being a part of the Mennonite Brethern Conference of Churches. Led by the Holy Spirit, Hope Fellowship focused on being the Church in a small group based faith community which also met regularly as a larger group for corporate worship and teaching.

Hope Fellowship is a place where people can find a sense of belonging. Our church is a place of refuge where people can come to find hope, healing, and spiritual renewal.

At the heart of our church's values is a commitment to God, and members are encouraged to love God through prayer, worship, and the study of scripture. Through these shared values, members of the church find a sense of belonging and purpose, and are inspired to live out their faith in their daily lives.

Our Mission:

By encountering the living Christ, together we will love God and others, equip disciples, and affirm one another’s place and purpose in the Kingdom.

Hope Fellowship Church delights in worshipping the Lord as a community and sharing God's love with those around us. We hope to provide opportunities for members to grow in their faith and develop their spiritual gifts. Through prayer, worship, and study, we encourage and equip to share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and make a positive impact on our world.

Our Beliefs:

“I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship” (Romans 12:1)

We believe in God as eternal Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created and sustains the universe. The eternal purpose of God the Father is to create a people who will bring glory to God forever. God alone is worthy of worship.

We believe that God became human in Jesus Christ. Jesus came to restore the world because humans have rejected God in disobedience. Jesus taught and modeled the way of God’s kingdom. He died on the cross, making it possible for us to accept a renewed relationship with God. He rose from the dead, broke the power of sin and death, and frees us to live in obedience to God’s will.

We believe that God the Holy Spirit invites all people to be reconciled with God and to join the global family of faith. Believers confess their faith, are baptized, and join in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and guided by the Bible, members of the church seek to live as followers of Christ and invite others to experience this new life.

As Christians, we look forward to the day when God will once again send Jesus to bring all things under God’s eternal rule.

Our Values:

We encourage individuals in the call of Jesus to follow Him and are committed to helping each other grow in love, serving and knowing our identity in Christ. We do this through teaching, mentoring and being intentional in relationship.
We value freedom of expression in worship, prayer and intercession, as we come together in surrender of our lives to honour, praise and glorify Him.
We value genuine relationship with God and each other. Within these relationships the flow of healing comes to each member of the family bringing wholeness as we seek to support each other emotionally, spiritually and practically as an expression of God’s love. We recognize that being reconciled one to another is an important part of genuine relationship.
We value Christ as the center of all truth and are committed to the authority of God’s word as it is brought forth through biblical teaching, prayer and truth-based ministry.
We value the diversity of natural talents and spiritual gifts as given by God and seek to identify and foster the release and function of these gifts within community. We welcome the function, expressions and spiritual gifts of those among us, as well as in the greater body, as directed by the Holy Spirit.
We believe we are stewards and that what we have is His. Therefore, we cheerfully serve with our time, finances and resources according to God’s directives. We also seek to be wise with the resources God gives.
We at Hope Fellowship Church value the many facets of Christ’s body both corporately and individually and recognize that we are just one part of this body.
We encourage individuals in the call of Jesus to follow Him and are committed to helping each other grow in love, serving and knowing our identity in Christ. We do this through teaching, mentoring and being intentional in relationship.
We value family which is inclusive of all generations and as such we are committed to hearing and receiving from the youngest to the oldest among us.
We value the gifts in Ephesians (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers) resident within our leadership teams for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry. We value clear and open communication as it is essential to the proper function of these structures.

What to expect on Sunday Morning:

At Hope Fellowship Church, we take time on Sundays to worship our Lord Jesus Christ, celebrating through music and teaching the Bible, God’s Word.

Our Sunday corporate services begin at 10 a.m. and are approximately 90 minutes. We invite you to come a bit earlier for a cup of coffee and visit. During our service we have an extended singing worship time, a few announcements about what is happening at Hope, a speaking time where we learn from God’s Word, and a time to receive ministry and prayer at the end. Once a month we have a time of taking communion during our worship service. Every other Sunday we offer Kid’s Church, where the children learn in a separate space during the speaking time. We also have activity baskets for children when they stay in our service.

Hope Fellowship is an intergenerational church that loves to worship our Lord and learn together. Our atmosphere is relaxed and casual – come as you are! We hope you are able to join us! If you can not attend, we invite you to check out our livestream services on our Facebook page!

Our Staff

Dale Kary

Lead Pastor

Dale Kary has been involved in Christian ministry in Saskatoon for more than 35 years, and has served in pastoral ministry at Hope Fellowship Church since 2002.

Dale's shepherd heart beats for unity in the church, and desires for people to be connected and tethered to God, His Word and His community. As a skilled musician and worship leader, he delights in leading believers together into worship.

One of his favorite scripture passages is John 17 as it reveals the heart of the Lord - all who are believers in Jesus would be one, as Jesus and the Father are one, so that the world would believe.

Dale enjoys ministering alongside his wife, Sandra. They enjoy and value spending time with their two adult children and their spouses. He has many interests and hobbies, most of which involve working with his hands, as working with tangible things fills and recharges him to pour into his great love and calling to pastoral ministry.

Tanya Bargen

Ministry Coordinator

Tanya Bargen has served our church family for over 20 years in the areas of worship, administrative, and children’s ministry.

She has been on staff at Hope Fellowship since 2018 as the Ministry Coordinator, where she has the joy of working with Pastor Dale and the ministry leaders to support them in their ministries, as well as plan events at Hope and help with the administrative function of the church.

Tanya also enjoys her careers as a private music teacher and a high school secretary, and in her “spare” time she likes to read, garden, and spend time with her family camping, watching movies, playing games, and being outdoors.

Tanya is married to Wayne, and they have three great kids, Joah, Micah, and Wren, and a crazy dog, George.
